He was born in 1979, is a German musicologist and arts manager. He studied musicology, arts management and English literature at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar and the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. After finishing his Dr phil in 2009, he worked for the research group „Music, Conflict and the State“ at the Georg August University in Göttingen from 2010 until 2014. Since 2014 he has been a guest researcher and since 2015 collaborate professor at the State University of Santa Catarina in Florianópolis, Brazil. Here, he pursues a research project about art music among German immigrants in the late 19th century, funded by a two-year scholarship of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). Further research areas include music and colonialism, the music of Alfred Schnittke and contemporaries, and music and theatre in German spas around 1800. Storch is the author of two monographs and several edited volumes.
